Privacy Policy

Effective September 16, 2026
1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how Revamped Outdoors Co. ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use revampedoutdoorsco.com and any related apps (the "Service"). We're Revamped Outdoors Co. LLC, a limited liability company based in South Carolina. Questions? Reach us at information@revampedoutdoorsco.com.
2. Information You Give Us
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, your first name, last name, and trail name.
Gear and packing data. Anything you add to your gear closet, trips, checklists, or weight logs — item names, categories, weights, and which items you've marked as packing, worn, or carried.
Training and fitness data. If you use the Training Log (a Compass Club feature), we store the training plans, logged sessions, distances, durations, pack weights, and readiness that you create or record.
Health tracking. If you use the medication or hydration reminders, the medications, schedules, doses, and hydration goals you enter are stored on our servers so they sync across your devices. The reminder notifications themselves are scheduled on your device (see the 'Data stored on your device' item below).
Apple Health (iPhone only, and only if you ask). The Training Log can read workouts you have already recorded — the date, activity type, duration, distance and elevation — so you do not have to type them in. Your phone asks your permission first, and we only ever read; we never write anything to Health. Nothing is imported until you tick it, and only the sessions you tick are saved to your Training Log on our servers. The rest of what we read stays on your phone, is never uploaded, and is never sent to an AI feature.
Photos you upload. Photos you add to gear items, saved vehicles, trip party members, or your profile are uploaded to our storage so they appear across your devices and, where you choose, on shared or 'find me' pages.
Vehicle details. If you save a vehicle for a trip, we store what you enter — make, model, color, and license plate — along with any photo. This exists so a Find Me page can tell someone looking for you what to look for at the trailhead, which means these details appear on that page when you share it.
Trails you record and publish. If you record a trail and choose to publish it, the recorded route itself — the path you walked — is uploaded and becomes visible to other people using the app. Recording without publishing keeps it on your device.
Location data. Several features can use your device's location, always with your permission and only when you use them: the live Training Log tracker (while a session runs, including in the background with the screen off if you grant "Always"); Track Back (records a breadcrumb trail as you hike, stored on your device); turn-by-turn navigation and the live map (your position while you navigate or view the map); Trail Weather, Trails Nearby, and "Use my location" (a one-time fix to find what's near you); and Trip Plan check-ins (if you choose to attach a location pin to a check-in). We read location only while the relevant feature is active, never in the background otherwise. To return results, some features send your coordinates to third-party data services — see Sections 5 and 6. You can decline or revoke location permission in your device or browser settings at any time.
Data stored on your device. Some things stay on your device and are not uploaded to our servers: downloaded offline map areas (map tiles), your recorded Track Back breadcrumb trails, and the on-device reminders you schedule (medication, hydration, and trip check-in reminders). Clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes them.
Content you submit to AI features. Smart Add, Trip Builder, the Trail Name Generator, the Packing Assistant, the Pack Order Assistant, the Base Weight Builder, Bag Check, Pet Pack, Trail Food Suggestions, and the Adaptive Outdoors Assistant send what you provide to Anthropic's API to generate a response. Depending on the feature, that can include photos, product links, pasted text, a description of yourself or your trip, and — where a feature asks for them — allergies, dietary needs, and any injury, medical, mobility, or accessibility needs you choose to describe. Only enter what you're comfortable sending; these features work without those details, they're just less specific. See Section 5 for more on this.
Product links you paste. When you paste a product link into Smart Add, we fetch that page's content through a third-party reading service (Jina AI) so the AI can read it. The link you pasted is sent to that service.
Feedback and support messages. Anything you submit through the feedback form — including your email address — or send us directly by email.
Newsletter and hike sign-ups. You can subscribe to our newsletter or to hike announcements with just an email address, without creating an account. We store that address until you unsubscribe, which you can do from the link in any email we send.
Payment information. If you subscribe to the Compass Club on the web, your payment is handled by Stripe; in the iOS app, through Apple's App Store; on Android, through Google Play; and subscription status is tracked via RevenueCat. We never see or store your full card number — we only receive confirmation that a subscription is active and basic billing status.
3. Information About Other People
Some features ask you for details about other people, and we store what you enter:
Trip party and Find Me pages. Names, phone numbers, emergency contact names and numbers, photos, and any description you write about someone in your party — including notes about what they're wearing or medical details you think a searcher would need.
Emergency and local contacts on a Trip Plan. The name, phone number, and email address of your emergency contact, plus any ranger station, sheriff, or hospital details you record. Compass Club members can add up to four more contacts to a plan; we store each one's name and email address the same way.
Saved hiking companions. Names, notes, and birthdays you save for people you hike with.
A shared camping board. If you open a camping trip's board, anyone with the link can add themselves to it — a name, what they're bringing, and any allergies or dietary needs in their own words. Everything on that board is visible to everyone who has the link, including the allergy notes, and the link works without an account. Only the organiser can turn the board off.
We may email your emergency contacts. If a Trip Plan becomes overdue, we automatically email the emergency contact you listed and any extra contacts you added — up to five people in total. That email contains your name, your destination, notes from your plan, and a link to your trip. We send it through our email provider (Resend). We don't use these addresses for anything else, and we never add them to a newsletter.
Before entering someone else's details, please make sure you have their permission and that they know the information is stored here — see Section 10 of our Terms of Service. If you're a person whose details someone else entered and you want them removed, email us at information@revampedoutdoorsco.com and we'll take care of it.
4. Information Collected Automatically
We use Supabase to handle authentication, which sets basic session cookies/tokens so you can stay logged in. We also use Sentry to collect crash and error reports — which may include your device type, operating system version, and technical details about what went wrong — so we can find and fix bugs. We also use PostHog for product analytics — usage data about which features are used and how the app performs — to understand and improve the Service. We don't use third-party advertising trackers or sell any data to advertisers.
Device and connection information. If you turn on notifications, we store your device's push token so we can send them — that's what alerts a weather warning or a trip reminder. Like almost any internet service, our providers (including Supabase, Cloudflare, Sentry, and PostHog) also receive your device's IP address when it connects, which gives an approximate idea of where in the world a request came from. We don't use IP addresses to build a location history of you.
App updates. The app checks Expo's update service for over-the-air updates, which involves sending basic app and device version information.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and maintain the Service (like syncing your gear closet across devices); process your Compass Club subscription; respond to feedback and support requests; and generate AI suggestions when you use a feature that calls for it (Smart Add, trail names, packing suggestions, pack order).
About the AI features specifically: photos, links, or text you submit to an AI feature are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response, and are subject to Anthropic's own privacy practices for API usage. We don't use your submissions to train our own models, and we don't use them for anything beyond generating the response you asked for.
About location specifically: we use your location only to power the feature you're using — measuring a workout, drawing your position on the map, guiding you along a route, finding nearby weather or trails, or attaching a pin to a check-in. We never use your location for advertising. To return results, certain features send your coordinates to the third-party map and data services listed in Section 6 (for example, the weather service for a forecast, or the trail/routing services to find trails and directions). Coordinates you save on your device (offline maps, Track Back trails) are not sent to us.
6. When We Share Information
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:
Service providers. Supabase (authentication, database, and file storage), Stripe, Apple's App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat (payment processing and subscription status), Anthropic (AI features), Jina AI (fetching product links you paste into Smart Add), Resend (sending email — newsletters, unsubscribe links, and overdue-trip alerts), Expo (delivering push notifications and app updates), Sentry (crash and error reporting), PostHog (product analytics), and Cloudflare (website hosting and content delivery) — each only receives what they need to do their job.
Map, weather, and trail data services. The map, weather, and trail features run on free, publicly available data sources rather than a paid provider. When you use them, your location or search terms are sent to: the U.S. National Weather Service (forecasts and alerts); OpenStreetMap and its Nominatim service (place search); the Overpass API (finding nearby trails); the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management (trails on public land); USGS's The National Map, OpenStreetMap, and OpenTopoMap (map tiles); a public OpenStreetMap-based routing service (FOSSGIS Valhalla) for walking directions; and sunrise-sunset.org (daylight times). These are third-party services with their own terms and privacy practices; we don't control them, and we send them only what's needed to answer your request.
Embedded videos. Some Trail Notes posts embed videos hosted by YouTube. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn't set advertising cookies unless you actually play the video. Either way, loading a video means Google receives your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
Things you choose to make public. Several features are opt-in public links. "Share Your Bag" shows anyone with the link your currently-packed gear and weights. A shared Trip Plan link shows anyone with the link your plan details and your check-ins, including any location pins you attached (your emergency-contact phone number is not shown), and a Find Me page shows the vehicle and party details you entered for it. A trail you publish shows other people the route you recorded. A shared thru-hike link shows your daily progress and where you stayed each night — and, only if you switch that setting on, the coordinates of those camps. A shared shopping list lets anyone with the link read it AND tick items off or add to it, with no account needed. Comments you post on Trail Notes are public. Your name or trail name may appear alongside any of these. Turning a link off removes public access going forward, but we can't recall copies someone has already saved.
Legal reasons. If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Revamped Outdoors Co. or our users.
7. Affiliate Links
Some gear links in the Service are affiliate links — if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Tapping one opens your normal browser. Some links go straight to the retailer; others pass first through the affiliate network that tracks the referral — Amazon Associates, Impact (impact.com), or AvantLink — which sets its own click identifier and receives your IP address and browser details under its own privacy policy, before sending you on to the retailer.
What the link carries from us is the name of the item you tapped and a tag identifying us as the referrer. It does not carry your name, email address, account id, or any advertising identifier, and we don't receive a record of what you looked at or bought — only aggregate commission totals. Once you're on the retailer's site, their privacy policy applies, not ours.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your account information and the data you create for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual gear items, checklist progress, or trips at any time from within the app. To delete your account entirely, use the 'Delete My Account' option on your Profile — this permanently removes your account and associated data, including your photos. You can also email us at information@revampedoutdoorsco.com if you'd prefer we do it for you.
How long specific things are kept. Newsletter and hike-announcement addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Crash reports and analytics events are kept according to our providers' retention settings, currently up to 90 days for crash data and 12 months for analytics. Rate-limiting records, which contain a one-way hash of an IP address and never the address itself, are deleted within a few hours. After you delete your account we may retain limited records we're required to keep for legal, tax, or billing purposes, such as transaction history.
9. Security
We protect your data with encrypted connections and row-level database security, so the records in our database are only readable by your own account.
About uploaded photos. Photos work differently. So that a shared bag, a Find Me page, or a trip link can display them to someone who isn't signed in, photos are served from URLs that anyone holding the URL can open. Those URLs aren't listed or searchable and aren't guessable in practice, but they aren't individually access-checked either, and they don't expire. Please keep that in mind when uploading a photo you'd consider sensitive.
No method of storing or transmitting data is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children, and you must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 as an account holder. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Information a parent enters about a child. Some features are built for family trips, so a parent or guardian may enter a child's name, photo, or notes about them into a trip party or Find Me page. That information is stored the same way as any other trip data, and it's visible on a Find Me page if you share one. It's covered by Section 3, and by the permission requirement in Section 10 of our Terms.
11. Your Rights and Choices
You can access, correct, or delete most of your information directly within the app (Profile, Gear Calculator, and so on). You can delete your account yourself using the 'Delete My Account' option on your Profile. You can turn location or notification permissions off at any time in your device settings, and unsubscribe from any email using the link it contains. For anything you can't change yourself — like a copy of your data — email information@revampedoutdoorsco.com and we'll take care of it.
12. U.S. State Privacy Rights
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and not to be treated differently for exercising any of those rights. Sections 2, 3, and 6 describe the categories we collect, where they come from, and who receives them.
We don't sell or share your personal information. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in California's privacy law. We've never done so. Because of that there's no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" option to offer you — there's nothing to opt out of.
To exercise any of these rights, email information@revampedoutdoorsco.com from the address on your account, or use the in-app controls above. We'll verify your request by confirming you control that email address. You can use an authorized agent, in which case we'll ask for proof of their authority.
13. If You're in the UK, EU, or EEA
Revamped Outdoors Co. LLC is the controller of your personal data. We rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (running your account, syncing your data, providing features you ask for, and processing a subscription); your consent (location access, notifications, newsletters, and anything you choose to publish — you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting what came before); our legitimate interests (keeping the Service secure, fixing crashes, understanding which features are used, and preventing abuse); and legal obligations (tax and accounting records).
You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and complain to your local supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
International transfers. We're based in the United States, and our providers listed in Section 6 process data in the United States and elsewhere. Where data moves out of the UK or EEA, we rely on the transfer mechanisms our providers have in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated version here with a new effective date.
